Don’t cry for the Horses that life has set free…

They were ours as a gift but never to keep

As they close their eyes now forever to sleep.

Look up into Heaven. You will see them above

The horses we lost, the horses we loved.

Do you hear that soft nicker close to your ear?

Don’t cry for the horses, love the ones that are here.

Willowbend’s Little Debbie – 1988- June 3, 2010

Debbie was put to sleep earlier this month after a long battle with cancer.  For the older Willowbend crew who remembers Debbie fondly we know most of those memories included being dumped after a jump – but we all still loved to ride her.  For the past two years Debbie was Fenway and Tricky’s babysitter at Sunset Ridge Stables.  She was a wonderful nanny to them – they loved her but she taught them some good field manners.  We miss you Debs.

Wrinkles – 1998-April 2010

He was the best barn cat ever.  He even though he could teach lessons, he was always sitting there watching and talking during them.  We’ll miss you old friend.

Bo Diddley – 2002-January 2010

The Gill Family suffered an unforeseen loss of Cleo’s horse Bo in early January.  He had been not feeling well on and off for a few months.  Over Christmas Break he went a bit more downhill and it was recommended they take him to Leesburg, VA to the Equine Hospital to have a more in depth look at him.  The results of several tests showed that Bo had advanced Lymphatic Cancer and there was nothing that could be done for him.  What a wonderful guy… Bo will always be great missed…

Willowbend’s Gywd Amira Gwyn –

Gwyn was put to sleep on March 13th after a long battle with Cushing’s complications.  Our vet said that he heart was starting to fail.  Gwyn was the first baby for the Johnson’s from their Arabian Stallion Gywdson.   She was one of the favorite school horses – almost a bit too fun to ride a jump!  And what a gorgeous pony!  She gave so much to everyone over the years and many of the students learned to really jump on her (no trotting over them for Gwyn!).  We miss her very much, she can never be replaced.
